Using a 70 LB heavybag to do what I call “Shouldering Slams” are a working
mans strength builder. In the short video demonstrating how I do it, this is
not a childs workout and don’t let the weight fool you.
I don’t just do 3 x 10 like MOST people would, I would do this for 5 to 15 minutes
straight non stop putting it to my entire body. But this short video was the start of
the workout I did for 1 hr straight, the goal was 400 in 1 hr and was the first time
doing this exercise this long and if you think the average man or even the fittest gym
rat can handle this type of volume give it a try.
Most people don’t train their body like a laborer, but I do. And have for years because
it’s how I earn my living. I can care less what my body looks like or if my abs are ripped
things like that mean nothing to me because in real life it’s how long your strength can last
not how much you can move one time. I work on what I call “Conditioned Strength” Lasting
strength for the long haul! Your strength fails when you breathe heavy you”re dead!
Today I tested myself mentally and physically by doing more then my original goal of
400 in 1 hr by completing 420 in 1 hr in my first time doing this exercise in that time
period.
All I can say is give it a try and see how far you can make it!
Toughness Builds Winners

As always, a tough as nails challenge. I recognize that exercise form wrestling and old school judo sessions. What would you consider your toughest session without equipment? Do you ever have an easy workout? Probably only when you sleep HA HA.. I remember you would send out a weekly e-letter way back when you published your first manual. Though your blogs are fewer nowadays they always remind me to MAN the F Up especially in these current times when everybody takes the easy way out.

What about pull ups? I like pushups more but dont we need pull ups too?
Jon, if you pick something up to your shoulder as J.G. does in the video, you are exercising the pulling muscles in your back. Rocks, heavy bags, cinder blocks or barbells will do. Pull ups are one way but not the only way.
Good point Bruce, pull ups seem to be “in” these days with many bodyweight trainers. I find it a little strange since it seems like the inverted row/pullup would be comparable to the push up and the pull up more in line with the handstand push up.
This will humble the most elite athlete in the world
